Trading Day Recap & The Week Ahead

The S&P 500 finished the shortened week up nearly 20 handles, closing at 2088.77, as we enter the final week of trading for the year. This week will also be shortened, as the markets are closed on New Years day.

In respect to economic numbers, we’ve got Jobless Claims on Wednesday, December 31st.

The VIX opened the week at 16.52 and closed at 14.68, on Friday.

With a shortened week, we expect trading volume to relatively low in the US Equity Market.

With that said, those trading options should be careful holding long vega positions, as volatility should come in. For those dying for trading opportunities, selling option premium may be favorable this week.

Of course, if you’re not monitoring positions or trading, it’s probably best you take this week off and work on your process and setting goals for 2015.

From all of us at TVC, we’d just like to wish you a happy and safe New Years!
